Sexual Education

As anyone knows who watches the news - sex education in our country is under fire. While I’ve mentioned this time and time again, if we don’t have solid sex education that isn’t shame, abstinence, sex negativity based, the point of reference that youth these days are getting is the sex education from the internet. .
.
As with anything else the internet is full of accurate relevant information but it’s also full of toxic, shame based messaging when it comes to sexual education. So on top of the basic sex education that we need to be providing, we also need to teach how to critically consume sexually explicit material online - and I’m not only referring to videos of a well endowed penis having penetrative sex with a immediately wet vulva, but rather all the subtle sex negative messages in articles masked as sex education (see previous post on the sex negative implications of our swear words).
