Endometriosis - Why You Should Know This

March is endometriosis awareness month! Not everyone knows that endometriosis is when the endometrial tissue grows in other places in the body in addition to the where it’s supposed to grow: the uterus. .
.
The issue with this is that when you get your period the tissue falls off, just like in the uterus, but in other parts of the body there is nowhere for the tissue to go. It can lead to lesions and scaring which can become inflamed and cause quite a bit of pain and even at times infertility. .
.
Symptoms can include: pelvic pain, pain or bleeding during sex, irregular bowel movements or stomach issues, back or leg pain with your period, and/or periods that are clumpy, heavy or irregular.
.
.
Endometriosis is sadly still quite under researched and takes on average 10 years to even get a diagnosis from the sign of first symptom. March is endometriosis awareness month - so let’s spread the word and cut that diagnostic time down to a reasonable timeframe for maximized treatment.
