Fetishes

Sexual fetishes are defined as an “intense focus on an inanimate object (stockings), a body part (feet) or a medium (silk) that is essential to a persons arousal but not inherently sexual on its own”. Typically, people who have true fetishes are unable to be sexually satisfied without the presence of their fetish - which could (but doesn’t always) become a problem. (In an upcoming post, I’ll talk about the difference between fetishizing and objectification) Five of the most common fetishes are listed below.
.
.
#1 Body piercings .
.
#2 Feet - many people find feet erotic and want to incorporate their own feet or their partners into sexual play. .
.
#3 Shoes
.
.
#4 Hair - this can include all types: facial, on head, legs, chest and pubic etc .
.
#5 Leather (more on leather bars specifically in an upcoming post) .
.
While all these fetishes can be harmless and playful as a supporting role, once they become the leading character it might start to become an issue for individuals and their partner(s). If so, this might be a good reason to speak to your local sex therapist or educator!
