Impact of Sexual Double Standard on Men

I recently posted about the sexual double standard in the way that it affects women. It also affects men, though this is less talked about.
.
.
There is misguided assumption that men are supposed to always be ready and want sex at the drop of a hat. Though this is often more true for men than women (not always) stress, illness, and low desire still normally impact men just as they do women. .
.
Another myth about men’s sexual health, is that they are always performance driven and goal oriented in sexual encounters. That they are not interested in intimacy nor any signs of commitment. .
.
In her book, #notalwaysinthemood, @sarahhuntermurray describes how these sexual assumptions can get in the way of good sex and be damaging to otherwise healthy relationships. I had the pleasure of meeting her and being present for her talk at the latest BESTCO conference.
