Pregnancy and Touch

A lot of women experience touch aversion while being pregnant, though it’s one of those things that’s made into jokes or worse yet not talked about at all. Touch aversion is a strong dislike or discomfort to being touched.
.
.
For some women it can last a few weeks or a few months or sometimes the entire pregnancy and can range in severity of reaction to touch. .
.
This can be really frustrating and hard on a relationship, especially during a period of uncertainty, hormonal and life changes. .
.
Talk to your partner, tell them how you’re feeling and that it is something experienced by many pregnant women. Reassure yourself and your loved ones that you still care for them just the same and that it won’t last forever
.
.
Notice triggers that make it worse: specific smells, tastes, times of day etc. And work within them versus against them.
.
.
Talk to a friend who might be going through this and let her know that she’s not alone, what she’s feeling is completely normal and that it won’t last forever.
