Anal Sex

I get a lot of questions about anal sex from clients who are unsure and fearful of pain and tearing. .
.
My ‘prescription’ is often a combination of mindfulness exercises and purchase of a butt plug and ALWAYS use lube (ideally water based - especially if you are using silicone toys). .
.
First, the mindfulness allows people to be more aware of their bodies and work towards relaxation - one of the big things that cause pain or discomfort in anal sex is tensing of pelvic floor muscles in the anus. Learning how to relax these muscles creates a more enjoyable experience. .
.
Second, the butt plug allows for sexual play with a smaller item. Be sure to choose one that is good quality and is wider at the end, as unlike the vagina, the anus continues into the rectum and then become the large intestine - you want to be able to access it easily. .
.
Third, I make sure to tell clients only to do what they are comfortable with - if something hurts - stop. Anal play isn’t for everyone and penetration is never the only option.
