Postcoital Tristesse or Postcoital Dysphoria

Do you ever feel a little blue after sex? You’re not the only one but it can feel pretty disconcerting.
.
.
This post sex sadness actually has a scientific diagnostic term called postcoital tristesse or postcoital dysphoria. These feelings of sadness, anxiety or depression can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. It can affect both men and women, whether the sex is great or not, consensual or not, a committed relationship or one night stand. .
.
Postcoital tristesse can present itself in various ways from unexplainable tears to starting arguments with your partner. In most circumstances though it shows up in stark contrast to how you were feeling moments before during the sexual encounter, which can be confusing and difficult to understand to the point of potentially questioning your relationship even though everything is good. Feeling this way doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with your relationship or with you.
